Investigating secret messages is a really entertaining and interesting investigation for children of all ages. A great way to start is to see if the children can create invisible ink.

You will need:

  • Blank paper
  • Agents e.g. lemon juice, milk, water, apple juice, orange squash, lemonade
  • Cotton buds
  • Small pots (paint trays work well)

Explain that you are going to try to find out what makes the best invisible ink.
