Stephen Lockyer helps us develop deep understanding in Rosa’s Code.

With the demands of a full curriculum, it may sometimes seem as if we are constantly asking the same simple questions to our children; surely there isn’t time to look at questions more deeply? I’ve found that with critical thinking, through asking the right type of questions, you deepen their understanding, further their curiosity and develop their thinking skills. Critical thinking is an approach to thinking that is designed to engage pupils in active thinking, rather than the simple regurgitation of an answer. We are looking for something beyond simple recall. Critical thinking is designed to encourage pupils to make connections they might not normally make.
